The aim of this paper is to verify the origin and destination (OD) matrix estimation model using the data observed with the Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) system. The previously proposed OD matrix estimation model is simply reformulated. An OD matrix is calculated by solving the linear equations which describe the relations between the OD matrix observed with the AVI data and the expected OD matrix. The model is verified using the data in a part of the Kobe line in the Hanshin Expressway network. It is found that the estimated OD matrix is consistent with the one obtained through the interview survey. The within-day and the day-to-day fluctuations of OD matrices are then examined using the sequential data in a week. For the covering abstract see IRRD E102946.
