Expression of CD99 in dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and its significance

Objective To investigate the expression of CD99 in dermatofibrosarcoma protuberan(DFSP) and dermatofibroma(DF),and to study its significance.Method A total of 28 DFSP and 10 DF were analyzed by immunohistochhemistry for expression of CD99,and combined with previous studies such as CD34 etc for comprehensive analysis.Results The expression of CD99 protein in DFSP(75%) was higher than that in DF(10%),and the difference was significant(P0.05).Conclusion CD99 can be used as a valuable differential marker in DFSP and DF,and it may be closely related with the invasion of DFSP.The frequent expression of CD99 indicates that DFSP may be derived from putative,multipotent neuromesenchymal cells.
