Objective To investigate the relation between the susceptibility to motion sickness of rats and plasma levels of cortisol (CORT) and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH).Methods The motion sickness model of CTA was used.Eighty-four female rats were adopted in the experiment,twelve of which were used for control group,while thirty-six of which were stimulated with rotation to evoke motion sickness,and rest thirty-six were used for vestibular training before test.The plasma levels of CORT and ACTH were analyzed with radioimmunoassay.Results After motion sickness,the plasma levels of CORT and,ACTH were significantly increased (P0 01),the plasma levels of CORT and ACTH in low susceptible group[(34.51±6.13)ng/ml,and (22.42±3.66) pg/ml,respectively] were higher than that in highly susceptible group [(25.74±4.88) ng/ml and (15.88±3.52) pg/ml,respectively];and after trained for one month,the differences of plasma levels of CORT and ACTH between the low susceptible group [(34.78±6.37) ng/ml and (25.37±6.36) pg/ml,respectively]and the highly susceptible group [(29.60±5.99) ng/ml and (19.83±6.87) pg/ml,respectively]were non-significent(P0 05).Conclusions The changes of plasma levels of CORT and ACTH supports a connection between motion sickness and stress,also supports a connection between motion sickness susceptibility and plasma levels of CORT and ACTH.
