Lise Öğrencileri İçin Meslek Seçimine İlişkin Akılcı Olmayan İnançlar Ölçeği'nin Geliştirilmesi

This study aimed at developing the Scale for Irrational Beliefs in Career Choices of High School Students (SIBCC-HS) and testing its psychometric properties. Three samples of participants were utilized: 190 (98 F, 82 M); 1460 (704 F, 756 M); and 315 (140 F, 175 M). Results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses resulted in 33 items and 5 factors (perfectionism, external locus of control, faulty inference, overgeneralization and self-esteem). The scale was a 5-point Likert-type measure which had Cronbach alpha coefficients of .67, .62, .60, .61 and .50 for subscales respectively. Test-retest reliability coefficients for subscales were .62, .70, .71, .70 and .55. Total score and all the factors, except perfectionism, had significant positive relationships with one another. Perfectionism had significant positive relationships with faulty inferences (.17, p<.01) and the total score (.439, p<.01). Subscales and; irrational beliefs, locus of control, and self-esteem also had significant positive relationships. Results and recommendations for future were discussed.
