Pi‐Complexes

Complexes of alkenes and related ligands are discussed with special reference to the side-on metal-ligand bonding adopted and the Dewar–Chatt versus the metalacyclopropane bonding extremes and the reactivity patterna associated with each. Allyl, diene, arene, and cyclopentadienyl complexes are covered together with their alternate bonding modes.
