View Video Presentation: https://doi.org/10.2514/6.2021-3624.vid A custom spectroscopic system is designed and built around a virtually imaged phased array (VIPA) to perform direct spectral measurements of gas phase Rayleigh-Brillouin scattering (RBS) lineshapes of combustion-relevant species at pressures up to 90 atm. The experimental system is detailed, with particular focus on the air-spaced VIPA, which balances a 4.0 GHz free spectral range with 60 MHz instrument resolution. Samples of raw data for a selection of species and pressures are presented, demonstrating the spectrometer's capability for passive, single-shot, rapid acquisition of RBS spectra, with resolving powers on the order of 10^7. Artifacts in the data, attributable to the VIPA, are discussed.
