Progress on Fabrication Methods of Silk Fibroin Microspheres

Silk fibroin can be fabricated into different forms of materials for its distinctive physical and chemical properties,and becomes a clinical candidate for application of biomaterials due to its perfect biocompatibility and biodegradability.This review highlights the fabrication methods of silk fibroin microspheres,such as emulsion,spray drying,laminar jet technology and self-assembly.Their advantages and disadvantages are compared,and the progress of silk fibroin microspheres in drug delivery is introduced.Furthermore,some problems about the field are suggested.
