Using Cibacron Blue F3GA as ligand, the affinity nylon-chitosan composite membrane was prepared and its adsorption characteristics for bovine serum albumin(BSA) were studied.Microporous nylon membranes were activated by formaldehyde and subsequently bound with chitosan to amplify reactive groups. Then Cibacron Blue F3GA was immobilized onto the chitosan-coated nylon membranes. The contents of chitosan and Cibacron Blue F3GA of affinity membranes were 112.4 and 123.3 mg/g nylon membrane, respectively. The obtained Cibacron Blue F3GA-chitosan affinity membranes were used to adsorb BSA from the BSA solution. The adsorption mechanism of BSA and the effects of pH value and ionic strength on adsorption were investigated by batch experiments. The results showed that the adsorption capacity increased with increasing BSA initial concentration while decreased with increasing the NaCl concentration and the adsorption isotherm fitted the Langmuir model well. The Cibacron Blue F3GA-chitosan affinity membranes exhibited the high adsorption capacity for BSA.
