Dihydroxyacetone was an important chemical or biochemical materials,which had been widely applied in cosmetics,fine chemical,pharmaceutical and food industry.Dihydroxyacetone had become an important objective of current chemical research due to rapidly increasing surplus of glycerol obtained as a by product in manufacturing of biodiesel fuel.The production methods and application research progress of dihydroxyacetone were introduced.Potential application prospects of dihydroxyacetone were also expected.
