Efficacy of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors combined with polarized liquid in the treatment of se-nile depressive disorder

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of selective serotonin reuptaker inhibitors( SS-RIs) combined with polarized liquid in the treatment of senile depressive disorder.Method: 69 senile patients, who were 65 or over and met the criteria for depressive disorder based on international classification of diseases, 10th revision,were randomly divided into a single group( n = 35,single SSRIs) and a combination group( n = 34, SSRIs + polarized liquid) for 4 weeks.The treatment effectiveness was assessed by the Hamilton depression scale( HAMD),Hamilton anxiety scale( HAMA),and clinical global impression scale( CGI) while the adverse events were assessed by treatment emergent symptom scale( TESS).Results: The HAMD and HAMA scores of the combination group were lowered more significantly than those in the single group at the end of the 4th week,which showed significantly different( F = 17.28,F = 10.24; all P 0.05).CGI( 1.5 ± 0.4) score and TESS( 9.4 ±1.2) score of the combination group were also lowered more significantly than( 2.3 ± 0.1) score and( 10.5 ±3.5) score of the single group,which showed significantly different( all P 0.05).Conclusion: SSRIs combined with polarized liquid in the treatment of senile depressive disorder have better efficacy and higher safety than the single SSRIs.
