On the basis of morphologic study of the gallbladders in 224 patients who died from pathology not related to the abdominal organs, 278 gallbladders removed for chronic calculous cholecystitis, and 23--removed for chronic acalculous cholecystitis, the singling out of gallbladder lipidosis into a separate nosologic form is substantiated. Structural peculiarities of lipidosis are studied. Its role in the development of chronic calculous and acalculous cholecystitis is elucidated.
