A Study of Electroless Ni-NanoSiC Composite Plating

SiC nano particles reinforced Ni-B and Ni-P composite coatings prepared by electroless plating are studied. It shows that SiC co-deposition changes the structure of matrix in as-plating coatings. The composite coatings transform from amorphous into crystal when nano SiC was added to the plating bath. The matrix of composite coatings is turned into amorphous structure again after some technologic factors are adjusted. The mechanism for this has been discussed on the bases of XRD and electron probing tests.
