摘要

Phenolic compounds represent a class of secondary metabolites that are ubiquitous in the plant kingdom. These biochemicals are aromatic in nature and are produced through the phenylpropanoid pathway. The study of phenolics has been the subject of numerous mechanisms and processes, particularly those related to the methods by which plants defend themselves against diseases caused by bacteria, fungus, and viruses, as well as important abiotic stresses, such as drought, salinity, and ultraviolet light. Phenolics are also of great importance in plant defense against various insect pests. They possess antibacterial and antioxidant characteristics, which assist in the prevention of pathogenic infections and insect pest infestations and the protection of the plant from the harmful effects of reactive oxygen species. In response to environmental stress, phenolics facilitate the rapid activation of genes within the phenylpropanoid pathway, as well as the accumulation of phenolic compounds, which collectively confer resistance against a multitude of stresses. Furthermore, in response to changing climatic conditions and increased insect infestation, the plant employs a range of phenolic chemicals to protect itself against herbivorous insects. In addition, phenolic compounds play a pivotal role in cross talk , which refers to the interaction and communication between plants, microbes, and insects. The synthesis and consolidation of phenolic compounds in Acacia confusa are discussed in the context of their diverse phytochemical, antioxidant, and pharmacological characteristics.
