Objective To observe the protective effect of Acorus tatarinowii schott combined with Borneol (ATS combined with Borneol) in different proportions on cerebral neurons of neonatal rats and to screen the optimal proportion of ATS with Borneol. Methods The anoxic rat model was established and cerebral neurons were cultivated. Expression of bcl-2, bax, easpase-3 and IL-6 as well as the apoptosis of neurons in the treatment groups and control group were also detected. Results ATS combined with Borneol in different proportions can decrease the expressions of caspase-3 and box, increase bcl-2 expression and reduce IL-6 and the apoptosis of cerebral neurons. ATS combined with Borneol in different proportions had better effect than volatile oil of Acorus tatarinowii schott alone and Borneo] alone and the high-proportion of ATS combined with Borneol in particular. Conclusion ATS combined with Borneol can reduce the apoptosis of cerebral neuron and has protective effect on cerebral neurons. The proportion of Borneol and volatile oil of ATS being 2: 1.46 is the best.
