A silica supported chitosan Schiff base palladium complex(SiO2-CS-Schiff base-Pd) has been synthesized and characterized by XRD,IR and TG methods,as well as the catalytic properties of this catalyst in hydrogenation reaction of nitrobenzene was studied. The influences of the reaction time, reaction temperature and amount of catalyst on hydrogenation reaction of nitrobenzene were also investigated. These results indicated that SiO2-CS-Schiff base-Pd catalyst has excellent catalytic activity to hydrogenation of the nitrobenzene into aniline at low temperature and under 1 atm H2.The catalyst was perfectly leach-proof and can be recycled at least three consecutive runs with less deactivation.
