Test Results of Thiocyanate in Dairy Products in the Market

Objective To understand the thiocyanate content in dairy products in the market through the determination of thiocyanate in the samples of dairy products.Methods The thiocyanate in samples was detected by ammonium ferric sulfate spectrophotometry.Results The thiocyanate contain was detected in all the 9 samples,with the positive rate 100%.The content of thiocyanate was 5-40 mg/kg.The brands of these 9 samples accounted for 55.6% of total dairy product brands in the market,in which the milk powder brands accounted for 33.3% of total milk powder brands in the market;the infant milk powder brands accounted for 50.0% of the total;and the milk brands accounted for 40.0% of the total.Conclusion The proportion of dairy products in the market containing thiocyanate is at a high level,but the content is low.Investigation should be conducted to test the background value of thiocyanate in raw milk,so as to provide scientific theoretical basis for the supervision department.
