The Construction Grammar and the Study of Modern Chinese

Construction Grammar which rises in recent years is a theory based on Cognitive Linguistics.It stemmed from the Frame Semantics founded by Fillmore and was put forward by Fillmore,Goldberg and Paul Kay.It exerts great influence in the academic circle.Construction is the pairing of form and meaning,the unit exits independently in grammar.The characteristics of Construction Grammar are non–modularity,non-derivational,full coverage,common-genetic level mode.So far,the most prominent research fields are argument structure,lexical semantics and marked constructions.Constructions Grammar also has value and limitations.Some Chinese scholars have made great achievements in applying Construction Grammar to modern Chinese grammar.
