Quinoline-substituted excited-state intramolecular proton transfer fluorophores as stimuli-sensitive dual-state fluorophores

The synthesis, photophysical and ab initio calculations of quinoline or isoquinoline fluorophores, is described. The proton-sensitive nature of these dyes is investigated in solution, where a transition switch between two excited states, is observed.
