A new regeneratively latched comparator is studied in the paper.Problems related to comparator failure, optimization between speed and power consumption and clock kickback effect are reviewed in order to improve the performance of the comparator. The proposed comparator has performance improvements such as a high input resistance,a less punishment from the clock kickback effect and a frequency bandwidth compensation of the preamplifier stage.Based on this,it has been integrated in a new high speed A/D converter with a kind of normal bipolar technology. Both the performance analyses and the simulation results with the tool of PSPICE of the comparator are provided in detail.
