ObjectiveTo analyze the relationship between the cancer embolus and lymph node metastasis in gastric carcinoma and their influence on the prognosis.MethodsClinical and pathological data of 375 post-operative patients were analyzed retrospectively. An analysis was done in terms of the relationship between cancer emboli and staging of the disease,as well as lymph node metastasis. The 3-year and 5-year survival in cancer-embolus-negative and positive patients were compared as well.ResultsIntravascular cancer embolus was found in 54 patients.Obvious relationships among the presence of cancer emboli,UICC staging, depth of tumor invasion, differentiation and metastasis were noticed(χ2 =7.355~20.066,P0.05).The 3-year and 5-year survival of cancer-embolus-free patients, stage Ⅰb+Ⅱ and Ⅲ,were higher than those with cancer embolus of the same stage(χ2=3.950~5.632,P0.05).ConclusionIntravascular cancer embolus is an important factor influencing the patient's prognosis.Clinically, more attention should be paid to it.
