Abstract In the field of aerospace, high-strain rate problems such as shock explosions have always been a major research challenge. TC4 titanium alloy is a commonly used alloy in aerospace. To study its mechanical properties and the intrinsic model in transient shock environments. The parameters of the Johnson-Cook (J-C) model for TC4 were calibrated by performing tensile tests at different rates. The effect of changing the strain rate in the test on the parameter calibration results was analyzed. The results show that, within a certain range, an increase in strain rate leads to larger yield and failure stress in TC4.By combining simulation and experiment to study the horizontal impact test of TC4, the two results are in good agreement, proving the accuracy of the obtained constitutive model.
