Objective To find the relationship between height age and bone age in patiens with growth hormone deficiency (GHD)after two year treatment. Methods 17 GHD patients with gonadotropin deficiency [age 14.80±2.27 years, height age (HA)8.16±1.5 years] received imported recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) for 24 months, and chorionic gonadotropin or testoviron depot in the second year. Results In the first year, height velocity (HV) was 11.25±1.89 cm/year, HA increased (ΔHA) 2.13±0.36 years. Bone age increased (ΔBA) 2.17±0.57 years with ΔHA/ΔBA 1.06±0.36. In the second year, HV was 13.39±2.52cm/year, ΔHA 2.18±0.59 years,ΔBA 2.05±0.8 years, ΔHA/ΔBA 1.13±0.29. HA had a direct proportion to BA before and after 6, 12, 18, 24 months. Within two years, height added 2.55 SDS. Conclusion rhGH alone or with sex hormone both had obvious effect on promoting growth and development of GHD patients, the latter being more efficient. The growth is in accordance with maturity.
