Hyperspectral imaging is a technique in which a unique spectrum is obtained at each spatial point on a sample. The collected data is used to construct an image showing the amount and distribution of constituent components of the sample.Datasets such as these may be immense in scale and require computer processing and analysis techniques to adequately study each of its facets.PySpectrum software was created to be a free and open source tool to facilitate analysis of Raman hyperspectral data. The software functionalities include baseline subtraction, generation of scrollable pixel intensity maps, and creation of heat maps through peak selection. These functionalities work on both area and line scans.Spectra can be displayed by choosing the spatial location the user would like to explore.Peaks in each respective spectrum are analyzed using a peak selection interface. The software capabilities were tested on three Raman datasets taken from biological samples.Heat maps showing the concentration of apatite, collagen, and lipids in an area scan of a bovine meniscal enthesis are detailed.
