Ionic liquids were synthesized by N, N-dialkyl imidazole (Cx-imi, x=3, 4, 5, 6) for the cation, and 3-nitro-1, 2, 4-triazole-5-one(NTO) for the anionic. Their structures were identified by IR, 1 H NMR, elemental anal., and their d., solubility, viscosity, thermal properties were studied. The results showed that NTO-alkyl imidazolium ionic liquids dissolved in acetonitrile, DMF, DMSO and other organic solvents with larger dielec. constant Their d. were greater than 1.897 g/cm3, thermal transition temperature of solid phase to liquid phase was less than -34.4°C, and the temperatures of 5% mass loss was about 220°C, having better thermal stability.
