Heterotopia and Utopia——A Perspective of Metropolitan Cultural Criticism

In 1967, Foucault expounded the meaning of Heterotopia in context of Postmodern Society. Foucault and Lefebvre’s dissertation illumined and deeply influenced Spatial Turn in cultural studies. Heretofore, sociologist continuously searched for new method to suit spatial questions. And Utopia itself , as a spatial mode and method, has evolved into Heterotopias. So it’s possible and effective to study city spaces with method of Heterotopia and Utopia.
