Six new species of Bryophaenocladius Thienemann (Diptera: Chironomidae) from Brazil

Bryophaenocladius is a species-rich genus with a worldwide distribution. In the Neotropical region, the genus is represented by only 15 species, of which just one has been recorded from Brazil. In this study, we describe and illustrate six new species of Bryophaenocladius from Brazil based on adult males, significantly expanding the known diversity of the genus in the region and the country.
