【Objective】 Our study was to approach polymorphism distribution of CYP2D6 and β1 adenoreceptor gene of hypertensive patients from central region in Hunan province.【Method】 CYP2D6 and β1 adenoreceptor gene polymorphism of 403 hypertensive patients from central region in Hunan province was investigated by PCR and PCR-RFLP method.【Result】 CYP2D6 allele frequency was *10(67.5%),*1(17.5%),*2(9.2%)and *5(5.8%) in order, with CYP2D6*10*10(47.4%) as the highest genotype.Ser49Gly allele frequency was Ser(83.9%) and Gly(16.1%),genotypic frequency was Ser/Ser(68.7%),Ser/Gly(30.3%) and Gly/Gly(1.0%) respectively;Gly389Arg allele frequency was Arg(76.1%) and Gly(23.9%),genotypic frequency was Arg/Arg(55.3%),Gly/Arg(41.4%) and Gly/Gly(3.2%).No sex difference was found in genotype and allele frequency distribution(all P0.05).【Conclusion】 polymorphism distribution of CYP2D6 and β1 adenoreceptor gene of hypertensive patients from central region in Hunan province reached Hardy-Weinberg genetic balance, and CYP2D6*10 and Gly389Arg had the highest gene mutation rate, which would be one of the predominantly influential factors to antihypertensive effect of β1 adenoreceptor blockers.
