Objective To study the efficacy of 5common disinfectants in killing clinically isolated Acinetobacter baumannii in order to provide a reference for practical use of disinfectants. Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to carry out experimental observation and the results in killing Acinetobacter baumannii were compared with those in killing the standard strain of E.coli.Results An average bactericidal rate of 100% was observed when clinically isolated Acinetobacter baumannii or standard strain of E.coli was treated as follows: Shikang disinfectant containing 400 mg/L of available chlorine for 3 minutes, benzalkonium bromide containing 200 mg/L of available bromine for 5 minutes, povidone iondine solution containing available iodine 2500 mg/L for 1 min,Triclosan for 1 min and 50%(v/v) ethanol solution for 1 min.No significant difference in the resistance against the five disinfectants was found between the clinical isolates of Acinetobacter baumannii and standard strain of E.coli.Conclusions The five disinfectants at routine concentration show excellent efficacy in killing clinically isolated Acinetobacter baumannii.
