Object To investigate the chemical constituents from the rhizome of Smilax glabra Roxb Methods The compounds were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel, Diaion HP 20, ODS, and HPLC, their structures were determined on the basis of their spectroscopic evidences Results Six compounds were identified as: 2, 4, 6 trihydroxyacetophenone 2, 4 di O β D glucopyranoside (Ⅰ), 3, 4, 5 trimethoxyphenyl 1 O β D glucopyranoside (Ⅱ), 3, 4, 5 trimethoxyphenol 1 O [β D apiofuranosyl (1→6)] β D glucopyranoside (Ⅲ), 3, 4 dihydroxyphenothyl 3 O β D glucopyranoside (Ⅳ), 8, 8′ bisdihydrosyringenin glucoside (Ⅴ), resveratrol 3 O β D glucopyranoside (Ⅵ) Conclusion Compound Ⅰ is obtained from the nature for the first time, other compounds are isolated from this plant for the first time
