A design methodology was presented to resolve the difficult issues of multidisciplinary decomposition and view consistency within multidisciplinary modeling.After the central model is defined,each discipline concurrently constructs their view models.This paper describes the multidisciplinary design optimization(MDO) method and demonstrates how the different representations for the functional behaviors of design objects are the foundation for the multidisciplinary model format.The model includes a mechanism to guarantee view consistency.The modeling method is then applied to a vehicle shape design project.Design information is easily shared and dynamically altered to rapidly design the shape.
