Information Effects in the Supply Chain

This paper examines the bullwhip effect in the supply chain using a simple model of supply chain. It shows that information exchange and collaboration within the supply chain can help alleviate negative effects of the bullwhip effect, this collaboration usually reduces the manufacturer's safety stocks and the resource wastes within the supply chain.
