摘要
Whole-grain foods are rich in bound polyphenols (BPs) whose health benefits were largely underestimated compared with free polyphenols. We first found that DFBP (dietary fiber with BPs from oat bran) exhibited stronger colonic antioxidant activities than DF. 16S rRNA sequencing showed that DFBP selectively changed gut microbial composition, which reciprocally released BPs from DFBP. Released polyphenols from DFBP reduced excessive colonic ROS and exhibited colonic antioxidant activities via the ROS/Akt/Nrf2 pathway revealed by transcriptome and western blot analysis.
