Abstract This study investigates the structural and magnetic properties of La 0.8 Ba 0.2 CrO 3 and La 0.8 Ba 0.2 (Cr 0.5 Mn 0.5 )O 3 bulk perovskite samples synthesized via the sol–gel method. Magnetization measurements reveal that La 0.8 Ba 0.2 CrO 3 exhibits canted antiferromagnetic behavior, driven by antisymmetric Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions between Cr 3+ ions, with a Néel temperature ( T N ) of 268 K. In contrast, La 0.8 Ba 0.2 (Cr 0.5 Mn 0.5 )O 3 demonstrates ferromagnetic ordering, characterized by a Curie temperature ( T c ) of 180 K and a saturation magnetization ( Ms ) of 28 Am 2 /kg at 5 K. These results highlight the crucial role of Cr and Mn substitution in tailoring the magnetic properties of perovskite materials.
