Study on tool life of cemented carbide tools in dry cutting TC4 titanium alloy

The three grade of carbide tools such as YT15,YG8 and YW2 were used to analyze wear morphology and characteristics of these tools by the test of dry cutting TC4 titanium alloy.As well,the influence of cutting speed on tool life is studied and Taylor formula between the tool life(T) and the cutting speed(v)is built.The result shows that with increasing cutting speed the decreasing tool life of the YT15 is the fastest,and the YG8 is followed,and the YW2 is the slowest.
