ID:16062 IPG-Free, Peripheral Nerve Stimulation of the Genicular Nerves for Treatment of Bilateral Osteoarthritic Knee Pain

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis in the knee. It is a degenerative “wear-and-tear” type of arthritis that occurs most often in people 50 years of age and older. In osteoarthritis, the cartilage in the knee joint gradually wears away, often resulting in chronic pain. A 71-year-old female presented with constant dull/aching/sharp pain in bilateral knees. The pain worsened with standing, walking and exercising. The pain was relieved with rest, relaxation and pain medication. The patient was diagnosed with bilateral primary osteoarthritis in both knees. Intra-articular injections were successful in relieving pain but the effects were temporary.
