A kinetic study on wet air oxidation and co-oxidation of phenol at presence of nitrobenzene were investigated in a stainless steel autoclave at temperature range of 180-220 degrees C and 1.0 MPa oxygen partial pressure. The oxidation reaction was found to be pseudo-first order with respect to phenol in both the single oxidation and co-oxidation system. The presence of nitrobenzene inhibits phenol oxidation. The activation energy of the fast period for phenol oxidation was 47.7 kJ mol(-1) in single oxidation, while it was 72.7 kJ mol(-1) in co-oxidation system.
