Objective To compare the etiology,therapy and prognosis between healthcareassociated pneumonia (HCAP) and community-acquired pneumonia (CAP).Methods The etiology,therapy and prognosis of 264 pneumonia cases were analyzed.Results Among these 264 cases,163 cases (61.74%) were CAP and 101 cases (38.26%) were HCAP.There were significant differences in etiology,antibiotics application,admitted to intensive care unit,the length and cost of hospital stay,as well as prognosis bewteen healthcare-associated pneumonia and community-acquired pneumonia ( P <0.05 or P <0.01).Conclusions Special attention should be paid to deeply understand and recognize HCAP.It is possiblely play roles in improving recovery rate and reducing death rate that prevention of HCAP and rational use of antibiotic in early stage.
