[Expert consensus on the health management process of cataracts (2024)].

Cataract is the leading cause of blindness worldwide. Currently, there is no comprehensive health management guideline for cataracts tailored to different populations in China. To promote the standardization and normalization of the health management process for cataracts in China, the Visual Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation medicine has organized domestic experts in related fields. Based on years of clinical experience, the latest research findings, and full consideration of internationally recognized best practices, in accordance with the guiding principles and standards of clinical practice and the existing evidence-based data, this panel has developed the first expert consensus on the health management process for cataracts in China. This consensus formulates a scientific and standardized full-process health management plan, covering risk prediction and prevention of cataracts, early screening and surgical indications, preoperative management and personalized surgical strategies, as well as postoperative rehabilitation management and long-term follow-up. The goal is to provide clinical and public health professionals with guidance on health management, thereby promoting cataract prevention and treatment.
