Objective To investigate the effects of AR antisense RNA on tumorigenesis of LNCaP cells. Methods Tumor formation abilities of LNCaP, LNCaP Neo and LNCaP as AR cells were determined by plate cloning formation efficiency in vitro and by injection of the cells into intact male nude mice. Results Cloning formation efficiency of LNCaP as AR cells in vitro was significantly lower ( P 0.05) than that of LNCaP and LNCaP Neo . LNCaP as AR tumor formation in the nude mice in vivo was inhibited and time for tumor formation was prolonged as compared with that of LNCaP and/or LNCaP Neo . There was no difference between LNCaP and LNCaP Neo ( P 0.05). Conclusion Antisense AR RNA can inhibit tumor formation of prostate carcinoma cell LNCaP.
