Crystal phase-selective synthesis of intermetallic palladium borides and their phase-regulated (electro)catalytic properties

Three Pd–B intermetallics, namely, Pd 6 B, Pd 5 B 2 and Pd 2 B, are synthesized, and their catalytic activities toward electrochemical water splitting and Suzuki coupling reactions are strongly associated with the Pd(d)–B(s,p) orbital hybridization.
