Multiple Hepatic Masses in a Patient With Crohn’s Disease

Question: A 25-year-old Chinese woman presented with 9 months of diarrhea, 3–4 bowel movements per day, intermittent abdominal pain, and 5-kg weight loss. Laboratory evaluation on admission showed hemoglobin level of 8.8 g/dL, platelet count of 441 × 109/L, and mildly elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) level of 8.8 mg/dL. The tuberculosis T-cell spot test was negative, and a computed tomography (CT) scan of the chest and upper abdomen was normal. Colonoscopy revealed multiple longitudinal ulcers in the colon and terminal ileum (Figure A).
