Critical Discourse Analysis of Obama's Presidential Inaugural Address

Based on critical discourse analysis and Halliday's framework of Systemic Functional Grammar,this paper attempts to give a critical discourse analysis of American president Obama's inaugural address in January 21,2013from transitivity,modality and personal pronouns with the aim of exploring their significance in contributing to a successful political speech and revealing the ideology behind the address.
