A synopsis of Chinese Plecoptera research

China is an important country for studying the insects, including the stoneflies. However, the Chinese fauna of Plecoptera seems to be less known to foreign researchers. Herein, the research of Chinese stoneflies is reviewed mainly from the following aspects: history, taxonomy, distribution, fossils, and molecular phylogeny. Finally, the checklist of Chinese extant and extinct stoneflies is provided.
